Eragon Adaptation: Everything We Know About The Exciting New Disney+ Series
A new Eragon adaptation, based on the book by Christopher Paolini, is finally happening.
From first self-publishing the book, to a failed first adaptation attempt this book has not always had it the easiest. But fans have repeatedly fought for their beloved characters and story and used the internet to push hard for another chance to see this brought to life on screen.
Eragon is the name of the first book in The Inheritance Cycle series, meaning there are more books and plenty more story to tell in a series format.

About The Book:
When Eragon finds a polished blue stone in the forest, he thinks it is the lucky discovery of a poor farm boy; perhaps it will buy his family meat for the winter. But when the stone brings a dragon hatchling, Eragon soon realizes he has stumbled upon a legacy nearly as old as the Empire itself.
Overnight his simple life is shattered, and he is thrust into a perilous new world of destiny, magic, and power. With only an ancient sword and the advice of an old storyteller for guidance, Eragon and the fledgling dragon must navigate the dangerous terrain and dark enemies of an Empire ruled by a king whose evil knows no bounds.
Can Eragon take up the mantle of the legendary Dragon Riders? The fate of the Empire may rest in his hands.

Eragon Adaptation Timeline:
After self-publishing in 2001, the book was picked up for a traditional publishing deal and release in 2003. The next year development film adaptation was announced. In 2006 the movie was released in theaters to negative reviews from both critics and fans of the series. Plans for a sequel were cancelled.
As remakes and internet culture grew, fans regularly pushed for a new adaptation. This culminated in 2021 when, after the rights transferred to Disney following their take over of 21st Century Fox, the author himself tweeted out a plea for a new adaptation with the hashtag #EragonRemake. The fans jumped on it and had it trending almost immediately.
One year later in July 2022 it was reported, and confirmed, that Disney had a series in early development for it’s streaming service, with Christopher Paolini attached as a co-writer.
Who Owns The Rights:
Disney owns the rights and is also handling distribution with their streaming service.
